An artist has been defined as ‘a philosopher/craftsman/scholar, who hands society the objective results of his labour (Benjamin Burloch).’ This multifaceted job description is the formula of success for me.
As a philosopher, I attempt to challenge our fast paced society by considering slower, much more mindful ways of seeing and being in the world. A position that progresses into the aesthetics of my art practice, with small water colour works that aim to carry a quietude and an open space for contemplation
Working in a space that sits between abstraction and the figurative, in seeking out my own place of hopeful reflection. The scholarly aspects of my life lead me to the theoretical histories of Transience and Wabi Sabi’s nature based presence. In crafting these states of being, I seek to question and bring awareness to the human experience.
